We've been living in our new home for almost five months now. We've been having fun exploring the area and today's adventure was to the Pickens County Flea Market. This flea market is only on Wednesdays and it starts at 5 in the morning! Yes, you read that right...5AM! No, we didn't get their that early. However, when we did arrive around 8am, the place was popping!
Tom had told me that this market was large.....ummm, that was a complete understatement - the place is HUGE!
We spent over three hours walking around and looking at a w-i-d-e variety of items. I mean everything from car parts to puppies to antiques to absolute junk. I have to admit at first, I wasn't very impressed at first but as we walked around, I realized the fun is in the hunt. Then I found my amazing deal of the day!
I am always on the hunt for Delft blue china and can spot it from quite a distance. Imagine my face when I found all of this...
I scored 7 pieces of china for $35! All but one of the pieces is hand signed and numbered. These were the pieces that my Mum and Dad always told me to look for. I can't wait to add them to my collection.
Tom also had fun looking for fishing reels and poles. No luck today, but he did find some Jeep Matchbox cars to add to his collection. There were also several folks selling plants. It's still a litte too early to start planting here, but we'll definitely be back in a couple of weeks to get some.
One thing I did see that completely cracked me up were the California Raisin figurines that Hardee's sold when I worked there way back in the day....like 1984/1985! This was when I was in high school. I remember having a set of them on the dashboard of my very first car. Talk about making a person feel a little old!
Things are starting to bloom around the house. We now know that we have Japanese Magnolias on either side of our driveway.
I've mentioned our awesome realtor, Alice Quinlan before. Well let me tell you, this lady knows how to throw a St. Patrick's Day party! It was also a great excuse to bake and decorate some sugar cookies - a new shape to master - I'll get better with more practice!
The weather is warming up, Tom has cleaned up the grill, we got some great new porch furniture and once the pollen has done it thing, we'll be spending a lot of time outside!
Toodles until next time.
